The statistics on sanity are that one out of every four Americans is suffering from some form of mental illness. Think of your three best friends. If they're okay, then it's you.-Rita May Brown

Accelerate your life. Navy.

Oh, I'm freaking. My son is "Going Navy". Signs on the line tomorrow. He'll finish the semester, but basic training will be in May, maybe June. Then, classes to train him for his job. He'll see the world. Of course, the recruiter spoke of the glam stories. Exotic Thailand. Five star hotels for $20 a night. Discounted tours. Dubai. The glitz. The shopping. The islands. The Rolls Royce taxis. He didn't speak of the action. Not much of where they really "need" him. Oh, vague possibilities.

I'm not ready. I'm sure tomorrow the kids will ask who gets his room. But I'm not ready. I don't think my brakes work, either.

Rubberneckers and the Five *Extra* Points

This thing says Currently Reading. I have to say, tho',  I've pretty much got this memorized. We've loved this game for road trips. There's now even a Jr. edition and an airplane edition!

Anyway, I always joke that when we get to the "5 points for seeing a Police car" card that I maybe I should go really fast so we can get the 5 *extra* points for seeing the car with the lights flashing. Well, I scored ten points on the way to school the other day...$75 worth of points. Yikes!

OH MY GOSH!!!

Check out this Google thing! (SketchUp.Google.com) (I still cannot figure out how to put a link here. Someday...)

This is amazing! If I had time, I could SketchUp my house, plan a garden, and figure out how much sun it would get so I could figure out what kinds of plants would work best where. AMAZING! AND THEN...

Oh, sometimes, I wish there were more time!

ON ANOTHER NOTE...I've received TWO emails about this...A WHOLE 'NOTHER KIND OF WOWEEE!!

Harvard University has announced that from now on undergraduate students
from low-income families will pay no tuition. In making the announcement,
Harvard's president Lawrence H. Summers said,"When only 10 percent of the
students in Elite higher education come from families in lower half of the
income distribution, we are not doing enough. We are not doing enough in
bringing elite higher education to the lower half of the income
distribution. "

If you know of a family earning less than $60,000 a year with an honor
student graduating from high school soon, Harvard University wants to pay
the tuition. The prestigious university recently announced that from now on
undergraduate students from low-income families can go to Harvard for free
.. no tuition and no student loans! In addition, Harvard announce reduced
fees for students from families with incomes between $60,000 and $80,000.

To find out more about Harvard offering free tuition for families making
less than $60,000 a year visit Harvard's financial aid website
at:
http://www.news. harvard.edu/ gazette/daily/ 2006/03/30- finaid.html
or call the school's financial aid office at (617) 495-1581.

I did go read the article in the Harvard Gazette...and wow. I'm grateful that the lower income families and students are being given a break. And even some of the middle people...I wonder if extenuating circumstances would be taken into consideration...

Where the Wild Things Are

Yeah, it's been awhile for me...I have barely even been lurking. But the computer is up and running again, after making mischief of one kind or another...I had to send it to be without any supper. And THEN...it became King of the Wildthings!

Oh, I'm getting away with myself!

OK, I was going to try to put some pics of Abi at camp here, but can't figure it out. Can anyone help me - step by step, of course - so I can post some photos?

Thanks! TTFN!
